How much you require is a function of your game’s type and limit. For limit players, it is wise to have a bankroll at least 200 times the big bet amount for that game. For example, if you typically participate in $1/$2 Limit games, then you need to bring to a game a purse of about $400, or two hundred times the upper limit bet amount. If you are playing in a No Limit or Pot Limit game however, your bankroll should typically be 20 times the minimum buy-in. An example for this: if you typically play in a $1 or $2 No Limit game, then it would make sense for you to carry a minimum bankroll of $800 to play with. Because the Ante for the table is forty dollars. It’s imperative to understand that what we’re presenting here are minimum bankroll recommendations, and realize you should probably have a larger bankroll to ensure your permanent success, about double the minimums we’ve shown here.
